About Us

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) is committed to cultivating and continually supporting a safe and secure environment while respecting the rights and dignity of all individuals utilizing the programs and facilities of 国產aⅴa麻豆University.  This shall be accomplished within the constraints of federal,  state, and local laws and ordinances. 

Field Operations Division 

Field Personnel

Public Safety personnel monitor the 国產aⅴa麻豆Malibu campus on foot and in University vehicles. They are responsible for the continuous monitoring of the campus and the provision of a variety of service functions, are critical support personnel in the event of an emergency, and assist in enforcing University rules, regulations, and the like, including the California Vehicle Code. Public Safety personnel are on campus 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, including all holidays. 

Entrance Booth Personnel

Personnel at the Seaver and John Tyler Drive entrance booths are available to provide directions, answer questions, and issue visitor parking and carpool passes. The Seaver Drive Booth is open 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and the John Tyler Drive booth is open from 6:30 AM to 10:30 PM, each day.

Communications Division 

Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for maintaining effective and efficient communication between field personnel, outside emergency calls, law enforcement agencies, and the campus community. Our communications center is operational 24-hours each day. All 911 calls made from campus emergency blue light phones and on-campus landlines are answered in the Public Safety Communications Center. 911 calls made from cell phones will still be routed to the local law enforcement agency.

Fire and Life Safety Division 

The Department of Public Safety has its own on-campus fire brigade, led by two fire captains and staffed by personnel certified in Wildland Firefighting. Additionally, the fire brigade maintains two operational fire engines to support fire prevention and fire fighting efforts on the Malibu campus. Fire Life Safety personnel manage annual, quarterly, and monthly inspections for fire sprinklers, kitchen suppression systems, emergency phones, AEDs, fire extinguishers, buildings, and more. They also support construction and special event inspections, assist with fire drills, and coordinate other permitting needs with stakeholders.

Investigations Division 

The Investigations Division is responsible for conducting investigations into allegations of potential University policy violations, including alleged Title IX violations as referred by the Title IX Coordinator. Parking and Administrative Division 

The Parking and Administrative Division is responsible for administering parking permits, processing parking reservation requests, and reviewing citation appeals, The parking window is open Monday-Friday, 9 am to 4 pm. You can contact the Parking & Administrative division by calling 310.506.4700.
